Fugitive Michael Lawrence, wanted for two murders in Saginaw, has been captured.

(04/30/13) - Michael Lawrence is now charged in the murder of his ex-girlfriend Angelica Olivarez.

ABC12 has also uncovered one police department had him in custody back in February. Michael Lawrence was arrested by Lansing police, but he was let go after he gave them a fake name.

The arrest happened several months after Lawrence was wanted by police for the shooting death of a 6-year-old girl, and a couple of months before the murder of Lawrence's former girlfriend.

City of Lansing court records indicate a Dominque Saxton was arrested on Feb. 24. Lansing police now know, the man they had in custody was suspected killer Michael Lawrence.

Lawrence is wanted in connection with two murders in Saginaw. The first, the shooting death of 6-year-old Layla Jones last August. Three men were arrested, and Saginaw Police issued an arrest warrant for Lawrence, who was still on the loose at the time.

Earlier this month, the body of Lawrence's former girlfriend and the mother of his 3-year-old child, Angelica Oliveraz, was found strangled to death in her Bond Street home.

Prosecutors have now charged Lawrence with murder.

Police say Lawrence took Oliveraz's car. It was found outside a Lansing apartment complex a few days after the murder. There was no sign of Lawrence.

ABC12 News has learned Lawrence is also wanted in Lansing for giving false information to a police officer. Court records show a man by the name of Dominique Saxton was arrested for giving police false information during an arrest of a woman, who was wanted on a felony warrant.

But those same court records now indicate the charges against Dominique Saxton have been dropped, and now Michael Lawrence is wanted for giving that false information to police.

Law enforcement officials confirm it was Lawrence who was in custody in Lansing, but, it appears, Lansing police believed it was Dominique Saxton, and let him go.

We have learned that while police continue to search for Lawrence, they are also looking at possible aliases.

One, of course, is Dominque Saxton. He may also be using the names of Jeremy Sanders and Quaadri Miller.
