Two women escape after being held captive

FLINT (WJRT) -

(07/24/13) - A Genesee County man is accused of kidnapping, raping and prostituting three young women.

Twenty-six-year-old Donald Lashawn Perkins is now facing 13 charges - including human trafficking, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct.

The case was blown wide open when two women broke free after making a desperate call for help.

Late Wednesday, ABC12 talked to Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton. He laid out the details of this case.

Prosecutor Leyton said Perkins, "asked them if they had wanted to party. They had gone with him and that turned out to be a huge mistake. When they went with him, they ended up being captive and forced to commit sex acts on other individuals and with themselves and they were essentially victims of human trafficking."

Leyton is not sure how long the women were held. It could have been days or weeks, in Genesee County.

Investigators say they were taken to different homes, but mostly living out of a van.

Then last weekend, two 17-year-old girls from Genesee County escaped from that van on Russell street after one of them called 911.

Perkins was arrested on the spot.

That's when investigators learned another  20-year-old woman from Arizona was being held in the basement of a house on Russell.

But she wasn't alone, her baby was with her.

The baby is now in the custody of human services.

The women were taken to the hospital.

Investigators are looking for at least two more people tied to this case.
