Chemical spill closes road in Saginaw County

Posted: Updated:

(08/15/13) - A chemical spill in Saginaw County shut down part of Midland Road, Thursday afternoon.

A spokesman for Dow Corning tells ABC12, when a company truck stopped at a red light in Saginaw Township, the load shifted, spilling between 600 and 700 gallons of non-hazardous material onto the road.

The silicone-based chemical is used in personal care products.

There were no injuries, but it took crews most of the day to clean it up.
