(08/16/13) - A home invasion case in Saginaw County has a neighborhood on
Two people were injured in the attack early Tuesday morning.
The two suspects, both on parole, were arraigned on Friday. Twenty-seven-year-old James Brooks and 29-year-old Demarcus Reed, both of Saginaw and both on parole from prison.
In fact, this was to be Brooks' final day of supervised parole. Now, both face life in prison, accused in a horrific home invasion that police say included pistol-whipping, sexual assault and robbery.
The victims, a 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were attacked in a Saginaw Township home. Investigators say the man managed to call 911 while he was being assaulted by the suspects.
"Immobilized, tied up, held, and at some point, got a hold of his cell phone and able to whisper, 'please get somebody here, help us," said Lt. Gary Grauf, of the Saginaw Township Police.
When Police came, the two suspects ran from the home, but were captured a short time after, during the chase.
"Two weapons were dropped, loaded weapons," Grauf said.
Grauf says the victims did not know the suspects. Easy entry into the home might have lead to the random attack, which happened just after 1:30 Tuesday morning.
"The screen door was shut, the interior door was open, light visible from the glare of the TV," Grauf said.

"It's terrible," he said. "There's a lot of people that are tying to keep this a decent place, then something like this happens."
Alexis Poineau says she does all she can to keep her family safe.
"That's scary, because I am always walking right past there too," she said. "I always make sure all of the doors are locked."
Both men are being held without bond.
We have also learned they are possible suspects in a similar attack in Saginaw earlier this year.
"Keep the light on on the outside, keep your doors locked," Grauf said.
