(08/19/13) - Just hours before announcing their comeback, the lead singer of "The Calling," says he was kidnapped, beat up and robbed in Lapeer.

Police are still looking for the two people who are behind his attack.

It happened early Sunday morning near South Main and West Streets.

This incident still remains under investigation.

This is the area where it took place. It happened near South Main Street.

All day, people have been showing their support by leaving encouraging words on Facebook.

The lead singer, Alex Band, posted on Twitter on August 16, before the incident. In the Tweet, he said he's thankful to be back on stage doing what he loves. He went on to say it's the first show back as "The Calling".

Officers with the Lapeer City Police Department say the band member reported being forced into a blue-colored minivan between 3 and 4 in the morning on Sunday by two men.

He was then assaulted, robbed and dropped off on another street in Lapeer.

The manager of "the Calling" released a statement.

In it, Band says he was beaten and then men pointed a gun in his face as they demanded money. Band says they let him go after he pleaded with them, telling them he was about to become a new dad.

The manager of the band found the singer after he went missing for a couple of hours. In the 911 call, the manager says, "I don't know who kidnapped him, I am waiting for police to come here and file a report." The 911 operator then says, "How do you know they were kidnapped?" The manager says, "Because he's bleeding all over the place and I found him on the side of the road."

Police say Band was treated and released from the hospital.

In the release, Band says he suffered a fractured lower spine, three broken teeth and 15 stitches on his chin.
