NORTH BRANCH (WJRT) -

(08/27/13) - The Lapeer County Sheriff's Department says it and the FBI are investigating vandalism at McNees Meats in North Branch.

"Meat is murder" was spray painted on the building, locks were glued, lights smashed and 15 cows were let loose.

The Sheriff's Department says the animals have been found.

An Internet post says members of ALF, that's the Animal Liberation Front, is claiming responsibility for the damage done Monday.

The meat company was tied to E. coli cases back in 2011.
