(08/28/13) - A new school year is right around the corner, and one Mid-Michigan middle school is re-opening its doors. Bentley Middle School sat idle for years until now. Wednesday, the district welcomed eighth graders and their parents to orientation.
Bentley Middle School was closed to save money, but now the Burton district has returned to financial health.
Over the summer, the building was cleaned, fixed-up, and painted, so it's all ready for more than 200 students to return next week.
The building is fully equipped with science labs for hands-on learning. Teachers and staff will focus on research-based instruction and will incorporate a students social and emotional needs into their daily curriculum.
The district is also beefing up its class offerings to provide the best learning environment possible.
Parents and students are also excited to start a new school year. Sixth and seventh grade orientation is Thursday, followed by the Middle School open house.
