SAGINAW (WJRT) -

(09/03/13) -  Federal court documents show a federal charge was issued last week - one day before Michael Lawrence was captured at a McDonald's parking lot in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Police have said that tip, leading to his arrest, pointed to Texas. The documents detail the tipster claimed Lawrence was living in Dallas, Texas and using, as we've reported, a fake name, but ultimately gave his true name. The tipster searched the Internet, found Lawrence was wanted and called police. That person also provided a description of Lawrence's tattoos and that he had said he was originally from Michigan.

See court documents HERE.

The criminal complaint, filed in federal court Thursday, charges Lawrence with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.  It details key points in the cases against him including his arrest and release in Lansing in between the two crimes he's charged in, in Saginaw.

Lawrence is accused in the August 2012 murder of 6-year-old Layla Jones and the April 2013 murder of his girlfriend, and mother of his son, 23-year-old Angelica Olivarez.

Court documents show her mother told police "...Olivarez planned to tell law enforcement authorities about Lawrence's whereabouts before she was killed."

The search for him intensified after her murder.

Lawrence's family members were interviewed and search warrants were executed, but police couldn't find him.

The criminal complaint alleges Lawrence lived with his mother in Saginaw until his felony warrants were issued in Saginaw County, but she didn't help police locate him.  "She said that she has not talked to Lawrence in a year," the complaint reads. "The Saginaw Police Department determined that no one in the area has seen him in the last five months..."

Online jail records show Lawrence is in a detention center in Clark County, Nevada and that he had a hearing scheduled for this morning.  Published reports show Lawrence has waived his right to an extradition hearing which would expedite his return to Saginaw County.

The court documents show Saginaw County's Prosecutor has authorized his extradition if apprehended anywhere in the United States.
