(09/09/13) - If you've ever enjoyed a sweet or savory offering at the Flint Crepe Company, chances are it included fresh produce from the Farmers Market.
The Farm to Table experience will be even greater when the market moves downtown.
"We source from the Flint Farmers Market a lot, so being able to walk instead of drive is going to be awesome. We've joked about just getting a cart and going right from the kitchen down the road and load up and come back," said Chris Day, of the Flint Crepe Company.
Over the weekend, we saw - for the first time - at what the new Market will look like, inside and out, after the move downtown.
"They looked pretty exciting, it will be a great pull for people to come downtown and see everything else," said Bret Boisclair, Farmers' Market customer.
The outdoor pavilion will be modeled after the current one, on Boulevard Drive, at the former Flint Journal print building.
The four-story atrium will then become the market's new indoor town square.
The bulk of the market will be on the east side of the old Journal building.
Part of the west side of that building will be torn down, creating an additional 100 parking spaces.
The move will happen in May 2014.
