Brutal crime caught on camera. Police looking for attackers.

Posted: Updated:

(09/16/13) - A brutal crime was caught on camera and now police need your help identifying the attackers.

It happened Friday, Sept. 6 at Kenneth Simmons Square in Flint.  That's an apartment complex on Stedron Street, east of Clio Road, on the city's northside.

Police say the 23-year-old victim has cerebral palsy and was in the hospital for days - at times in serious condition. He is OK now.

The video may be hard to watch as it does show the attack. The attack starts with a barrage of blows to the man's face and too many others to count.

The video shows something in the victim's hand, up to his ear, and no sign that he was fighting back as he falls to the floor.

Police say the beating and stomping started around 12:45 a.m. and continued for a little more than one minute.  He was stabbed, with a knife, in the back.

Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Bill Jennings said it appears two men do the damage, punching, kicking, even using a bottle to attack the victim, while a third person stands by watching.

Jennings said, and the video clearly shows, the bigger of the two men tried to pull the other attacker, seen in an orange and white jacket, off of the victim before he, himself, goes back in and out of the camera's view.  Others can be seen in the hallway too.

The knife attack can't be seen in the video police provided.

When it's over, the video shows the trio walking away and the victim walking to the elevator.  Jennings said he went back to his apartment on another floor.

Investigators are looking to identify everyone in the video.

We've posted an unedited clip in the video player above. Again, please be aware it does show the attack.

Call Jennings at 810-237-6911 or Crime Stoppers at 800-422-5245 (JAIL) if you recognize the people in the video.
