(09/26/13) - It's a time to support Mid-Michigan's art community - and to help feed the hungry.
We're talking about the annual "Empty Bowls" fundraiser put on by the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Soup and lots of it, from more than 30 Mid-Michigan restaurants.
This the twenty-third annual Empty Bowls event. $20 will buy you a bottomless bowl of soup, and on top of that, you get to take home a one-of-kind, handmade bowl.
Basically, the Food Bank has been turned into a massive restaurant.
There are two sessions, Thursday. Lunch ends at 2 p.m. and dinner runs from 4-8 p.m.
The bowls were made by students over at the Flint Institute of Arts, and all proceeds help the Food Bank provide meals for people in need.
Last year's event brought in $35,000 - enough to provide more than 18,000 meals.
There are autographed bowls up for auction as well.
