(10/01/13) - A Flint artist is feeling the effects of the federal shutdown.
Anni Crouter is a top 10 finalist for ArtPrize in Grand Rapids.
Her entry is "Polar Expressed." It was one of two finalist entries inside of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, which was forced closed at midnight.
She and the other artist set up shop in a tent outside of the museum Tuesday morning.
"Last week, we were warned that this could happen, so we had to start working on a plan," she said. "The staff is sick about it. They feel terrible, but they've done everything in their power to help us. We got it all up and out in about an hour in a half."
The international art competition runs through Sunday.
Crouter says her entry must stay outside as long as the shutdown lasts.
