(10/10/13) - A harvest fest is going to be held Saturday in Mt. Morris Township at an orchard that doesn't have any fruit yet - but they're still going to have fun.
Fruit trees were planted 18 months ago at the Harvesting Earth orchard and it may be two more years before the trees bear fruit.
Organizers plan to celebrate a good crop a little early. A party is planned and visitors will be able to tour the orchard.
It's hoped sponsors will step forward and financially support some of the apple, peach and pear trees in the orchard.
"We have 200 fruit trees here. We have 55 of them adopted so we have 145 trees that still need to be adopted," said Dora King, of Harvesting Earth Farm.
The harvest fest will be this Saturday from 12-3 p.m. at the Harvesting Earth orchard on Detroit Street near Princeton Avenue.
There will be free food and games.
