(10/16/13) - Converting waste into energy - it's an ongoing operation at the Flint Sewage Treatment Plant.
Expanding clean energy efforts like that was the topic of discussion Wednesday at Kettering University.
The PEW charitable trust is leading a campaign to advance clean energy. The national organization hosted a roundtable discussion with local leaders. The goal - finding ways to become a worldwide leader in the industry.
Mid-Michigan's contribution to that effort includes Flint's waste to energy bio-gas plant. Another is Midland's Cogeneration Venture - a gas-fired steam recovery plant.
The leaders of both took part in Wednesday's roundtable.
