FRANKENMUTH (WJRT) -

(10/23/13) - It's only October, but the spirit of the season is already alive in Frankenmuth.

"It's Christmas, believe it or not. It's supposed to be Halloween, but it's Christmas," said Jeff Coon, the brewmaster at the Frankenmuth Brewery.

The Frankenmuth Brewery spent Tuesday morning brewing it's final batches of the all-new, limited edition Christmas Town Ale. It'll be available in just about every major Michigan grocery store, beginning Nov. 1.

"Every Meijer store in the state of Michigan, that's huge. Kroger, Costco, Spartan stores, so we're talking some very big stores. It's very big," Coon said.

Only 6,000 cases will be available. That's around 144,000 bottles. Coon spent close to six months coming up with the recipe.

"I can't tell you how many batches I've tried to get this exactly right and the way that I wanted it to be, and it came out perfect, and we're really excited," Coon said.

As for the taste and smell, they should be somewhat familiar.

"It's the holiday smells that we've come to know. Spices like cinnamon clove, nutmeg, all spice, those type of things," Coon said.

Coon says Christmas Town Ale isn't a novelty beer. It's a beverage and label designed to attract tourism during the holidays.

"The inspiration is we celebrate Christmas here 361 days a year, and we want to invite people not only to Frankenmuth Brewery, but to the town, to Bronner's the Christmas store, the Zehnder's to Bavarian Inn," Coon said.

Santa Claus will be on hand at the Frankenmuth Brewery Thursday night for the official unveiling of Christmas Town Ale.
