Flushing community helps "Rally for Ally"

FLUSHING (WJRT) -

(10/25/13) - Many of them have never even met the little girl they're trying to help, but that doesn't matter one bit.

The Flushing community continued its "Rally for Ally" at Friday's football game against Flint Powers.

Springview Elementary School first grader Allyson or Ally Ingham is still in the hospital, in critical condition, with Strep A.

Friday night, each varsity football player had an "A" on their helmet.

"To represent Allyson," said grandmother Debra Wilding. "It's wonderful."

Wilding even smiled a few times, while at the football game, surrounded by love and support for the little girl. Those smiles have been hard to come by in the weeks since Ally was med-flighted to Ann Arbor with the severe infection.

"She's had a number of surgeries and actually she's scheduled for two more next week. She had to have all of her toes amputated," Wilding said.

Medical bills are mounting.

Members of the Springview PTO, as well as schools all over the district, stepped in with fundraisers right away, but they're stepping it up a bit.

"This family needs more support," said Jody Zorn, a representative for the Springview PTO.

T-shirts were designed. They're selling them for $10. Zorn said they're selling them at the schools at least for the next week and will take orders after that.

"The whole community. I can't express, we can't express our gratitude," Wilding said. "We just want to get her better enough to where we know she's gonna be ok that she's gonna make it.  Everyday we pray to have her another day."

Donations to support Ally and her family are still being accepted through a fundraising website.  The family is also using the page to update people regularly on her progress. See the website HERE.
