Man dead following Saturday night shooting in Flint

FLINT (WJRT) -

(10/27/13) - Police in Flint say a 58-year-old man died during surgery after being shot several times Saturday night.
    
They identified him as Charles Edwards.

It happened in the 300 block W. York Avenue, around 11 p.m.

No suspect information has been released.

ABC12 interviewed Edwards Christmas Eve in 1996 after thieves broke into his home and stole Christmas presents. 

Edwards found himself in trouble shortly after.  Online records indicate he was released from federal prison in April 2008.

    (9/14/14) - Roughly 400-500 community members made their way out for the Second Annual "Stop the Violence" event in Flint Sunday. Beginning with a parade that started at East Pierson Road and culminating at Berston Field House, rally-goers were met with a slew of vendors, activities and food that was put on by the Community Take-Back Organization. And with violent crime down in the city this year, the new theme attached to the event this time around was a "Celebration of Life".

    (09/14/14) - Flint Police need your help tracking down two armed robbers.They have surveillance photos from inside the Holiday Inn Express on Robert T. Longway showing the two men.Police say the men walked into the hotel, pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded money.The robbery happened just before 2:30 Sunday morning.No one was hurt.But police say the men should be considered armed and dangerous.Call Flint Police at 810-237-6801 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP if you know who they are.
