(10/29/13) - A Mid-Michigan animal shelter is trying to take some of the
"stigma" out of adopting black cats and dogs.
They aren't sure why, but the Isabella County Animal Shelter says pets who are all or mostly black have a hard time finding fur-ever homes.
In November, they're teaming up with a national organization to offer the "Back in Black" promotion.
Grant money is allowing the shelter to offer a $10 discount for the pets on Fridays.
All pets are up-to-date on their vaccines, spayed or neutered and microchipped.
Right now nearly half of the shelter's cats are black or partially black while more than a quarter of the dogs fall in that category.
