(10/31/13) - You have seen the promo - and now it's here. We're talking about Weather Nation.
It launched, Thursday, on our 24-hour weather channel.
We have had a 24-hour weather channel for some time, but now it's much more than a "channel". We have elevated it to a Weather Nation - the difference for you will be even better, more in-depth coverage.
Not only will you still see J.R., Leslie and the rest of ABC 12 weather crew - with even more local updates, Weather Nation will be hosted by a team of top notch meteorologists who are excited to team up with us to bring you the most thorough coverage in Mid-Michigan.
"You could say I am a weather nerd," said Weather Nation Meteorologist Mace Michaels. "I have fun. I enjoy looking at all different aspects of weather."
"I've known I wanted to do this since I was probably about five years old," said Weather Nation Meteorologist Katie Ferrier.
Not only do these two love the weather, they are excited to bring you- more in-depth information - with a personal touch.
"We'll get to know the viewers. We're going to ask for participation, for interaction. Send us your pictures. Send us your videos. We want to connect and pull in the viewer so they want to tune back in," Ferrier said.
"If you're traveling somewhere in the country, we'll have an update. If you're headed to the Caribbean or even Alaska or Hawaii, we'll have that. If there is a big weather story going on - hurricane, tornado outbreak - we'll be there, we'll have video of it. We'll have the information live," Michaels said.
And, you will always know what is going on right here at home. Our ABC 12 First Alert Doppler HD will always be visible in one corner of the screen.
"We do updates if there is anything local that is new and pressing right away, we'll do a quick update to that, so they'll always get the latest weather 24/7, 365," Ferrier said.
