(11/01/13) - Halloween is over, but the candy lives on. Thanksgiving is not far away. Yep, the "eatin' season" is officially underway. Just in the nick of time, Genesys Athletic Club has a brand new program designed to help you make better choices this year. It is not about being "perfect", it is about being "better".
The GAC always has some kind of "get healthy" or "lose weight" program going on, but Fuse 90 is a little different- and kind of the same. The club combined two existing programs- Renew and Transformations. That explains the "Fuse", but what about the "90"?
"Ninety stands for three months. It takes about three months to get your jump-start into health and fitness," says Jen Colombo, the GAC's fitness director.
The 90 day program starts this month, as the holidays kick off. It wraps up, conveniently, in February. That leaves plenty of time to get those new years resolutions in full swing.
But Colombo says it really goes farther than that, "our health and fitness journey is not just three months. It's not a year. It's your whole life. We're not putting you on a diet plan here. This is whole, healthy eating. It's really figuring out where you are right now, and modifying your behaviors, through a cycle."
While the program was not created specifically for the holidays, the timing is just right. It is your chance, not to just eat right and exercise, but to find out why you seem to get off track or sometimes make the "wrong" choices.
"It's really important to understand why we do the things we do. It's stress. It's work. It's kids. It's going home and- not eating a good meal all through the day- and you come home and you're starving. We're trying to help you understand, why you do those things, and hopefully make better choices," Colombo says.
You will have a wellness coach, get expert nutritional and physical guidance, and there are three levels. No matter which level you choose, you start where you are, and go at your own pace.
"The people who are just getting off the couch, who maybe were in fitness a long time ago and are intimidated to come back. We have the middle level, probably people who have been with us a while, and want to continue the health and fitness. And we also have that elite advanced group of people who enjoy having a trainer and having that accountability all the time, but really just use us for that next level of exercise," Colombo adds.
Fuse 90 is available to both Genesys Athletic Club members and to non-members. The cost depends on the level you choose and whether you are a GAC member.
There is an informational meeting next, Tuesday, Nov. 5. You can also get more information at one of these links:
