Genesee County Park Ranger on leave as MSP investigate shooting

FLINT (WJRT) -

(11/01/13) - A Genesee County Park Ranger is on administrative leave while Michigan State Police investigate a shooting she was involved in Wednesday night.

Genesee County Parks Director Amy McMillan confirmed, Friday afternoon, the employee has been placed on administrative leave.  

The woman, who was off duty, is also a retired Flint Police officer.

Police confirmed she shot a man she thought had snatched her purse from a Flint laundromat.  The shooting occurred nearby on the city's northside.

He's OK, but still hospitalized.  Police said he was shot in the knee area and his injuries are non-life threatening.

Investigators will present their findings to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office.  

The prosecutor's office will determine if she will face charges.
