(11/03/13) - Need some extra cash for the holidays? We might have some good news for your pocket book.

AAA says gas prices could drop to a national average of $3.10 per gallon by the end of the year.

"I'm tired of driving a little baby car just to save on gas," said Ashley Villarreao, after filling up her gas tank.

Just about every driver cringes when it comes time to pay at the pump. Kira Tester of Flint says she drives from Flint to Auburn Hills for work every day, so any kind of price drop would be very welcome.

If gas does drop to a national average of $3.10 per gallon, it would be the cheapest average since February 2011.

"Like I said, everything adds up, it all helps out," Tester said.

Villarreao does what she can to save money as is, but would love to see prices drop lower.

"I actually just used a coupon for 30 cents off so I got my gas super cheap so I like that they do little promotions like that," she said.

Some drivers already have a few ideas on how they would spend the money they would save.

"Christmas is really big in my family, the holiday season coming up, lots of presents to buy, lots of people to shop for," Tester said.

"I'd shop, I'd shop shop shop, I'd buy shoes, I would buy stuff for my dog, I'd buy just everything, anything!" Villarreao said.

AAA says a few states could even see their averages dip below $3 per gallon.
