Lawmakers tackle welfare fraud

Posted: Updated:

(12/05/13) - The Michigan Legislature gave final approval to six bills that will cut down on welfare fraud. They are also expected to protect taxpayer-funded government assistance from waste and abuse.

The bills prevent Bridge Cards from being used to withdraw cash benefits from ATM's in strip clubs, liquor stores and horse racing tracks.

Last year, Gov. Snyder signed a similar law that prevents Bridge Card users from withdrawing cash at casino ATM's.
