Nexteer adding 70 technical engineering jobs

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -

(12/11/13) - Top Nexteer Automotive executives from around the world met Wednesday to talk about their future, and they say it's looking bright.

While the economy is still bleak for some, Nexteer says they're expanding, adding 70 new engineering jobs.

"We have people from all over the world here in Saginaw," said Jill Dralle, plant manager.

More than 300 Nexteer executives met at Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw Township to look at their last year of business.

"We are growing so fast," said Laurent Bresson, president of Nexteer.

They've been able to invest quite a bit of money into their headquarters in Buena Vista Township.

"We've invested over $220 million, so many of our plants have gone through some refurbishments and upgrades," Dralle said.

This growth means they need more technical engineers. They're looking to hire 70 right now, based in Mid-Michigan, but they will travel all over.

"The nature of our business is highly global, so it offers up so many opportunities," said Frank Lubischer, Global Vice President for Engineering.

A big reason behind this forward momentum is they're booking new customers, so another part of this conference is looking ahead at how they can do even better.

"Most of our future thoughts are on new products and the development of those," Lubischer said.

These executives from around the globe will visit and meet all around the Saginaw community this week.
