(12/13/13) - Three Mid-Michigan hospitals are joining forces Friday to help keep students warm this winter.
Genesys, Hurley and McLaren employees buy a pair of shoes for a specific Flint student. The student is also given socks, gloves and hats to help stay warm this winter.
It is part of the 18th annual Shoes that Fit program.
Since the program got started 18 years ago, more than 13,000 pairs of shoes have gone to students.
"We're sorting approximately $1,200 pairs of shoes today, so that's pretty spectacular what these hospitals have done," said volunteer Connie Rau.
