(12/16/13) - It's another season of change for Flint's Atwood Stadium.
Preparations are underway to bring an outdoor skating rink to the historic stadium. It's the latest addition to the stadium since Kettering University took ownership of Atwood during the summer.
"We're committed to continuing that community function of the stadium. In other words, it was a city park and we continue to want to do things that will bring families in to town and the stadium and do those fun sorts of things that a stadium park should be able to do," said Jack Stock, of Kettering University.
Skating will be free and open to the public - the first opportunity of its kind in Flint in quite some time.
If the set-up goes according to plan, the rink should be ready by late January.
Kettering and Atwood's neighbors are thrilled about the addition. Powers Catholic High School opened their new campus nearby just a few months ago.
The skating rink could also signal more changes to come at Atwood in the future.
