(12/20/13) - The holiday weekend is finally here, and Michigan State Police are setting up extra patrols to keep you and your family safe.
It's called "Operation CARE Lifesaver Weekend." It is a nation wide effort to reduce the chances of accidents caused by dangerous driving.
State Police say troopers will have zero tolerance for dangerous driving. This includes driving under the influence, not wearing seat belts, running red lights and drowsy or distracted drivers.
Last year, five deadly accidents happened this weekend. All were alcohol-related.
