Christmas gifts stolen from local family during power outages

FLINT (WJRT) -

(12/26/13) - The ice storm knocked out power to a local family, but they ended losing a lot more than just the heat and lights.

Someone broke into their home and stole their Christmas gifts while they were gone.

The person who robbed the Flint family is a grinch in the truest sense.

Not only did the theft steal their gifts from under the tree,  but the excitement that comes with seeing a child's face light up Christmas morning.

Katrina Fondren tells us someone broke into their Flint home early Christmas eve.

They weren't home because they lost power.

When they came back that afternoon to check on the house, Katrina knew immediately something was wrong.

Katrina says," there were foot prints leading to the kitchen window, and all the TV's were gone and all the kids presents from in here and the back room".

Hundreds of dollars worth of Christmas presents were stolen from under the tree.

Making matters worse, they didn't have power.

By Thursday, the power was back on, but the shock of being robbed Christmas eve hasn't worn off.

"I just wanted this Christmas to be perfect, we had everything planned out, and everything got ruined," said Katrina's daughter Tyana Turner.

Katrina tell us she did file a police report.
