MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -

(12/31/13) - According to Consumers Energy, all of the power is back on to customers after the massive ice storm last weekend.

Now, state environmental officials are allowing six counties hit hardest by the pre-Christmas holiday ice storm to send debris from fallen and cut branches to landfills.

The Department of Environmental Quality issued an emergency order Monday for Barry, Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Ingham and Shiawassee counties.

The order may be extended to other counties.

That means up to 10,000 tons of tree trimmings and other yard clippings cleared from each county may be disposed of in licensed, Type Two landfills through March 31.
