Spartans celebrate Rose Bowl win

(01/01/14) - MSU fans in Mid-Michigan were cheering right along with the team in Pasadena, including a big crowd at Buffalo Wild Wings in Flint Township.

All eyes were glued to big screen TVs at Buffalo Wild Wings this New Year's Day.

The game started off a little slow.

"I hope they win, but they're losing right now," said Demarcus Smith, during the first half.

By the second half, the Spartans left it all on the field, becoming Rose Bowl champs for the first time in 26 years.

"Hats off to Stanford, they're a great team, great coach, well played but in the long run thank God we're a Sparty," said Scott Ward after the game.

Some fans say they saw the big win coming all along.

"I knew we would win through thick and thin," said Chris Misiuk, who graduated from MSU.

Others had their doubts.

"As a Spartan fan, you always have your doubts, but we hope for the best and sometimes expect the worst, but it's fantastic," said Doug Atwater, who also graduated from MSU.

Every fan is going home, happy to call themselves a Spartan.

"They really picked up, defense won the game, we have the best defense in the country," Misiuk said.

"It's just an amazing feeling," Ward said.
