Saginaw area slammed with snow, drivers, homeowners trying to keep up

(01/05/14) - It's been a white knuckle drive for some folks in Saginaw County.

They are trying to avoid ending up in a ditch as the snow builds up.

We talked to the Saginaw County 911 director. He says they're not seeing any serious trouble around the county yet.

There have been a few accidents along the highways, but no closures that we are aware of right now.

It seems like a lot of people are staying home and out of this weather.

Tthose that are home still have a big job ahead of them - clearing their driveway and sidewalks.

We saw people around the Saginaw area going head-to-head with Old Man Winter.

Some had a snow blower to ease their snowy burden, while others took the old fashion route and did it all by hand.

And the snow storm is not only affecting those traveling by roads, but also by air.

We're seeing flight cancellations at both Flint Bishop Airport and MBS in Saginaw County.

We stopped by MBS International Airport early Sunday evening. It looked like a ghost town.

Hardly anyone was there and we didn't see any incoming planes.

Several flights coming in and out of the airport were delayed or canceled.

We caught up with one flyer and he's trying to get home to Iowa after visiting family. He won't be able to catch a flight until Tuesday now.
