Snowstorm 2014 hits Mid-Michigan

MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -

(01/06/14) - Travel continues to be treacherous around Michigan.

Earlier Monday, a major tie up developed on westbound I-69 near the I-475 ramps in Flint. Flint and Michigan State Police blocked the area until a wrecker could remove a stuck mini van. It looked like the driver crashed and got stuck.

As of 4 p.m. Monday, the Consumers Energy outage map is showing 128 power outages in the area.

Some schools have already canceled classes for Tuesday. We have a list of other closings and cancellations, HERE. It is best to call ahead before going somewhere you think may be closed.

The inclement weather has also forced some businesses to close. Birch Run Premium Outlets locked their doors at 5 p.m. Monday and the Flint Farmers Market will be closed Tuesday.

If you don't have to be outside, do not go out. The roads have proven to be dangerous, and in many cases impassible.
