Icy roads frustrate Mid-Michigan drivers

Posted: Updated:

(01/08/14) - The icy roads are frustrating to drivers to say the least, and many are getting impatient.

We all have to drive in bad weather from time to time, but going on five days is starting to take its toll.

First it was the blowing snow, then the heavy snow, and now icy conditions.

For the next few days, it may take a you some extra time to get to where you need to go. Even at slower speeds, there are still a number of cars that are stuck and sliding off the roads.

When we were out Wednesday, we even saw some people who were texting while driving.

One person we talked to says while he's tired with the conditions, he's even more frustrated with other drivers.

"People that don't realize they're on ice. They don't pay attention. You see them sliding up to the stoplights, especially our young people. They're not experienced and so you just have to watch for them. Anybody that's been around Michigan for many years, they've experienced it all," said driver Rennie Sawabe.

Here's a few tips for drivers - the key is to slow down and pay attention to those around you. It's also important to keep tools in your car such as a flash light, even a shovel, just in case you get stuck.
