MSP offers free I.D. kits to parents, kids

Posted: Updated:

(01/11/14) - Saturday, the Michigan State Police offered parents an important service.

Through the EZ Child ID Card Program, parents got all the information they need should their child go missing.

Troopers collected all 10 fingerprints, along with pictures and a video. That information was all be put on a CD and given to parents. It is not saved by police, but parents can use it if a child goes missing and an Amber Alert is needed.

Police recommend gathering the information each year because a child's appearance can change drastically each year.

If you didn't make this event, two more are planned for Jan. 17 and Jan. 24.

The events take place at the MSP Tri-Cities Post located at 2402 Salzburg Road, Freeland MI.

The event runs from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day.
