(01/16/14) - After 10 years of success in the Vehicle City, Back to the Bricks
isn't just a Flint event anymore.
The organization announced, Thursday, they're putting on two new events in two new cities.
In addition to the original Back to the Bricks in Flint, Mount Pleasant and Cadillac will now be hosting their own versions of the car show.
Both cities have hosted stops along the Back to the Bricks promotional tours over the last two years, and both were booming successes.
When they found out the tour was heading south this year, to southern Michigan and Indiana, they decided to just hold their own versions of Back to the Bricks.
"We're really excited to be a part of the Back to the Bricks name, the popular tour, and bring it to Mount Pleasant," said Chris Rowley, of the Mt. Pleasant Visitors Bureau.
"Cadillac is so excited because the first time the tour came to Cadillac, we were able to shut Mitchell Street down, which is our Main Street, for the first time in about 25 years. So it was a huge, momentous event for us," said Joy VanDrie, of the Cadillac Visitors Bureau.
"The licensing agreement basically says they have to follow the mantra of Back to the Bricks, that it's a free event, and you have to hand out free T-shirts to the first so many participants," said Jerry Preston, of Back to the Bricks, Flint.
The Cadillac event is scheduled for June 7 and 8. The Mount Pleasant event will be held July 11 and 12.
