New Quality 10 GDX theater opens in Saginaw

(01/16/14)- Movies have just gotten a lot more interesting in Saginaw. The Quality 10 GDX theater held a ribbon cutting Thursday. The theater brings the community giant screens and mega sound.

Hours before the Quality 10 GDX welcomed the public, work crews put the finishing touches on  brand new movie theater in Kochville Township.

"We've been dreaming about this theater I would say for roughly a decade," said Reed Simmon, regional director for Goodrich Quality Theaters.

The new theater will replace the Saginaw 12, which had been open since the 1970's.

"All 10 of the auditoriums will be stadium seating, state of the art, completely digital," Reed said.

Not to mention the improved listening experience.

"When a helicopter goes over your head in a movie, it's going to really feel and sound like it, and if a bomb goes off, you're going to duck," Reed said.

It's the first theater of its kind in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Before, people traveled as far as Grand Blanc or Detroit to enjoy the big screens and technology.

"I'd be fibbing if I didn't say we are hoping to draw from all around the area," Reed said.

Thursday evening, Quality 10 GDX offered movies for $1 in celebration of the ribbon cutting, and to raise money for Covenant Kids.
