MT. MORRIS (WJRT) -

(01/16/14) - He worked as a janitor, at a local school, but is now in jail, accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student and of having two guns on school property.

Jordan White, 23, from the Clio area, faced a judge for the first time Thursday. ABC12 was the only media in court for his hearing.

UPDATED to add White's attorney's comments.

White, who was employed by a company contracted to do custodial work at Hamady Middle/High School, told 67th District Court Judge John Conover he previously served in the Army and was even stationed in Afghanistan.  White told Conover he is currently an Army Reservist.

White will now have to fight 11 charges. They include three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree, with a student. Those are felony charges. The allegation is, even though the student is 16 and could legally agree, White "used his status to gain access to or establish a relationship with the victim."

White also faces six other felonies - one count of child sexually abusive activity, one count of possessing child sexually abusive material, one count of distributing sexually explicit, visual or verbal matter to a minor and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

"The computer crimes charged are the illicit photos that were exchanged between them via text," said Mt. Morris Township Police Detective Diana Mills. "There was (sic) also photos of them on the cell phones."

The warrant shows the alleged, sexual, activity dates back to mid-November.

Mills said police got an anonymous tip Monday, immediately checked it out and, in the course of the investigation, found White is licensed to carry a concealed pistol.

"He informed me he had two weapons, two semiautomatic weapons, in his vehicle, in the backseat, on school property," Mills said.

Mills said White also had "several hundred" rounds of ammunition with the weapons, in an unlocked case, in plain view, in his locked vehicle. Mills said White said he had recently been to a shooting range.

White is charged with two, misdemeanor counts of possessing a weapon in a weapon-free school zone.

The charges, read in court, indicate White had an AR-15, an automatic rifle, and a Glock 9 mm pistol on school property.

"Whenever there's any kind of weapon brought on school property, we're very concerned," said Westwood Heights Superintendent Salli Stevens. "We had no knowledge anything like this was occurring.  He was immediately terminated."

Stevens said the district will update and address the weapons policy to make sure all school workers know what is and isn't allowed.

No one alleged White planned to use the guns at the school.

Parents were supposed to be notified Thursday.

Stevens said White had worked at the school for about one year and had recently started working the night shift instead of day shift.

Police believe the sexual activity, White is accused of, took place in area hotels and not on school property.

Conover set bond at nearly $2 million.

White's attorney, Frank Manley, claims the prosecutor's office is stretching the law to make a headline out of a personal matter.

Manley said White and the student had a legal, consensual relationship and claims his client did nothing wrong.  He said the guns were in his vehicle, on school property, because he'd just come from the shooting range.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton had no comment and has not detailed specifics of the case.
