Flint residents complain some streets are still not plowed

Posted: Updated:

(01/16/14) - Almost two weeks after a massive snow storm swept through Mid-Michigan, some people in Flint say their streets have still not been plowed.

Ray Montgomery lives in a neighborhood East of the old Delphi plant. He says he's called everyone he can think of with the city, but no one's done anything.

"They say they'll come out to look at it, and I guess that's all they do is look at it," he said.

He says his road was covered in more than a foot of snow for more than a week before it finally melted.

"Yeah, my wife's a substitute teacher and she was stuck six times trying to make it two blocks."

Now, much of the snow has turned to ice and would be impossible to plow.

"It's better," he says. "But if you got two cars coming, one from one way and one the other way, and you go over too far either way, one car's going to get stuck. And my buddy just got stuck last night trying to go down this street."

When asked how well Flint plowed its roads following the snowstorm, a city spokesperson says, "We were able to utilize minimal resources to the best of our ability and instituted several new initiatives that will carry forward and produce improved service at the next snow event."
