7 year old out of the hospital after life threatening Strep A

FLUSHING (WJRT) -

(01/21/14) - She's just 7years old, but already taught her family and community so much about life.

Ally Ingham spent more than 100 days in the hospital fighting to survive. What started as a stomach ache for the Flushing first grader ended up as life threatening Strep A.

Ally is finally back home in Flushing.

The 7 year old came home Friday after being in the hospital for nearly three months. She was in critical condition with Strep A.

"It still amazes me that she's sitting right next to me because for a moment we didn't think she would be," said Ally's mother, Stephanie Ingham.

It's a struggle every day for 7-year-old Ally to do the little things so many children take for granted, such as moving her hands and her feet.

"Nothing's easy with a handicap child, which I'm sure many parents know that have handicap children, especially when originally she wasn't handicap," Stephanie said.

In the blink of an eye, everything changed for Ally. When the Springview Elementary School student came home from school last year, she had a stomach ache.

Then just a few days later, she was air lifted to the hospital in Ann Arbor. That's when doctor's told Stephanie that her daughter had Strep A.

"It's a horrible thing to walk in a room and see your child hooked up to defibrillator pads, so we did come very close to losing her," Stephanie said.

Even though Ally was on dialysis and ended up losing her toes, nothing makes her want to give up. She's has even taught her family a thing or two.

"Just continues to amaze me and restored my faith in God because I feel without him she wouldn't be here today," Stephanie said.

Ally says she's also thankful for everyone in the community who has been so supportive.

"They're like my family," Ally said.

Even though Ally is back home, the bills are still piling up. The community has been raising money to help and hopes to raise $5,000.
