Slippery roads cause problems in Genesee County

Posted: Updated:

(01/23/14) - It was a slick commute Thursday morning, and the slippery roads caused problems for hours.

A few areas were completely closed, including U.S. 23 in Fenton, which was shut down a few times Thursday morning. Eastbound I-69 at M-13 in western Genesee County was also shut down, that part for about two hours.

Both were because of multiple accidents.

In Vienna Township, a car rolled over on north 75 and Dodge Road. That accident had no effect on traffic.

In Flint, we saw a number of slide offs and accidents on westbound I-69 between Saginaw and Hammerberg. People were even standing in the field there, away from the traffic still speeding by, waiting for police to respond.

The icy, snow-covered roads are also being blamed for an accident involving a semi truck on north I-475, near Stewart Avenue, in Flint. Police say the truck jack-knifed, shutting down a potion of the road.
