Gov. Snyder unveils new budget proposal in Lansing

Posted: Updated:

(02/05/14) - In Lansing, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is proposing a $52 billion state budget - which includes tax breaks, education funding increases and extra road funding.

The governor talked about increasing spending for some areas of public safety too, including more money to train an additional 100 Michigan State police troopers.

The governor is proposing expanding the Homestead property tax credit which he says will generate increased tax refunds this summer for an estimated 1.3 million residents.

Keep in mind, there was a nearly $1 billion surplus going into the budget, so there was extra money to spend on programs.

This budget is around 156 pages long.
