Saginaw schools postpone the vote on school closures

Posted: Updated:

(02/05/14) - During a special  Wednesday night meeting, Saginaw school board members postponed a critical budget vote, that could include the closure of Saginaw High School.

The district is facing a multi-million dollar budget deficit and the state is requesting a deficit elimination plan by Monday or the district risks losing at least $4 million in state aid for the month of February.

Three schools and nearly 60 teacher jobs could be on the line if the debt elimination plan is approved.

Many people showed up to the meeting to express their concern about the possible changes.

The next meeting is scheduled for this Saturday at noon.
