President Obama to visit Michigan on Friday to sign Farm Bill

Posted: Updated:

(02/06/14) - On Friday, President Barack Obama will visit Michigan State University where he will sign the farm bill.

MSU is the perfect backdrop. The research and agriculture-focused university could benefit from the hundreds of millions of dollars pledged for research in the bill.

Senator Debbie Stabenow is the senate agriculture chair, which may be another reason the President is coming to her home state.

Flint Mayor Dayne Walling will be on hand to witness the signing.

ABC12 talked to Walling about what he plans to ask the President if he gets a chance.

"If I get a moment with him, I will make sure I emphasize the importance of this entire I-69 region and the incredible growth opportunities that we have here to contribute to exports, innovation, creating talent and broadening and strengthening our economy," he said.
