Saginaw Co. physical therapy clinic now part of Olympic network

KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -

(02/06/14) - Just in time for the opening ceremonies, a Saginaw County physical therapy clinic is now qualified to treat members of the United States Olympic team.

Renue Physical Therapy in Kochville Township was just accepted into the U.S. Olympic Committee's National Medical Network.

It's a huge honor for the clinic - and the community.

"If say, there was an athlete, an Olympic athlete, a member of Team USA in the area who needed services, the USOC would refer them, or could refer them, to us," said Kent Timm, a physical trainer with Renue Physical Therapy.

There aren't many clinics that can say that. This is one of only two in the state - the other is at the University of Michigan.

Timm said having such a high-quality clinic so close to home is a great benefit to Mid-Michigan.

"They don't have to go to a big name rehab center on the East coast or the West coast, we in most cases can provide the same level of care here," Timm said.

Timm is no stranger to Olympic training - he was part of the medical staff in three different Olympic games.

"In Atlanta I worked with the rowing team, in Sydney or Australia primarily, it was with the men's soccer team," he said.

In the Salt Lake City games, he worked with the cross country ski team.

He says being part of the Olympic team again - even from home - is an amazing feeling.

"To me it never gets old, it never gets old," Timm said. "Whether it's watching on TV or looking up at the banner now that we have it here and have this designation, the Olympics never get old."

Renue Physical Therapy has eight locations in Mid-Michigan and one in Ann Arbor.
