GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -

(02/08/14) - Perani Arena hosted a very special event Saturday.

The "Battle of the Badges" took place Saturday night.

First responders from all over Genesee County came together for the police verses fire fighter hockey game.

The proceeds from ticket sales all go to charity. The money raised will be donated to the Whaley Children's Center.

Players on both teams look forward to this all year.

"When we get on the ice, it's competition, but it's all in good fun, and naturally both teams are looking to win! This is our fifth season and after the last four years the police have a little advantage on us, so the fire fighters are looking to get a little revenge on the ice for the score sheet," said Rico Philips, the firefighter's coach.

The police won against the fire fighters 5-4.
