(02/11/14) - Players from the Saginaw Spirit spent some time off the ice Tuesday to reach out the community.
They made a stop to the VA Medical Center in Saginaw.
The visit was part of National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week. Players spent time visiting with patients in their rooms. They say it's all a part of their commitment to Mid-Michigan.
"It's good just to get out and talk to some of the veterans and hear their stories and, you know, we just like to get out in the public and do things that involve us in the community and hopefully make their day a little bit better," said Sean Callaghan, of Saginaw Spirit.
Salute to Veteran Patients Week events are taking place at 17 medical centers across the country.
