(02/14/14) - It's the end of the production line for hundreds of Mid-Michigan
workers. TRW Automotive will shut down this week, leaving 600 people out of
The announcement about plans to close its plant on Saginaw's east side came a few weeks before Christmas.
We spoke to several employees who say it was a tough final day at work.
TRW announced in mid-December that the Saginaw Plant would shutdown, after the company was unable to secure new business. Like many employees at the plant, Casey Garza has spent a good portion of her life helping to assemble parts for automotive brake systems.
"I've been here since I was 20 years old. I am 28 now," Garza said.
More than enough time to develop great friendships and strong bonds employees here will have to leave behind.
So far, many of the employees haven't been able to secure a new job.
We reached out to UAW local 467, the union that represents the workers here, for comment, but we didn't hear back from them in time for this story.
