Truck Collides with train in Argentine Township Saturday

Posted: Updated:

(02/15/14) - Argentine Township Police have identified two men who died Saturday after their truck collided with a train.

Argentine Township Police Chief Dan Allen tells ABC12, 31-year-old Robert Bosch of Gaines and 67-year-old Theodore Pudvay of Argentine Township were crossing the tracks, on Pudvay's property, to get firewood, when struck.

The collision occurred about 3 p.m. Saturday, in the 8000 block of Lahring Road, and the truck was pushed about another quarter of a mile down the tracks before the train was able to come to a stop.

"They were crossing private drive that leads from one farm field to another. It was traveling northbound, it was struck by a train that was traveling westbound," Allen said Saturday.

Crews responded immediately, but due to the location of the wreck, it was well after 8 p.m. before the scene was in the final stages of clearing.

Before official word could get out, Argentine residents already knew they had lost two friends.

"The news travels fast. The loss is unfortunate, but it does travel fast in a small community," Allen said.
