(02/24/14) - Congressman Dan Kildee and several other local democratic leaders
in Saginaw announced their endorsement of Mark Schauer for governor, Monday,
during a campaign stop in Saginaw.
Schauer a former member of congress. He says if he's elected, he plans to make education a top priority.
That's one of several reasons that democratic leaders are backing him.
"I think it starts with good schools. I can to fulfill our constitutional promise of a quality public education for every child regardless of their zip code and what I've seen happen in Saginaw County, Buena Vista School district went away, Saginaw School District is in crisis," Schauer said.
Schauer also says he also wants to repeal a tax on some pensions passed in 2011 because he doesn't think it's helping senior citizens.
