    (09/10/13) - A state trooper with ties to Mid-Michigan has been killed in the line of duty. Trooper Paul Butterfield was shot during a traffic stop last night in West Michigan. The shooting happened
    Paul Butterfield, a veteran Michigan State Trooper, was shot and killed during a traffic stop Monday night - more then 100 miles away from Mid-Michigan, in West Michigan.
LUDINGTON (WJRT) -

(02/25/14) - ABC12 has learned a guilty verdict has been reached in the in the trial of 20-year-old Eric Knysz, the man charged with shooting and killing Trooper Paul Butterfield.

Prosecutors say Knysz shot Butterfield in the head during a traffic stop, Sept. 9 in Mason County.

Knysz's wife, Sarah, is already serving two to five years for being an accessory. She testified her husband had stolen guns in the car when they were pulled over.

Knysz was convicted of first degree murder and several other charges.
